You Again | Little Lady Little City: You Again

You Again

Thanks for all your helpful tips on the best foods to get our mouse (or family of mice) into the trap. We were all set with our trap full or peanut butter and bread when we noticed something on top of our makeshift kitchen door. And when I say we noticed, I mean I walked through the door about 10 times before Will noticed haha. Our friendly not so little snake was back, and this time in our house on top of our door!
To say we were startled would be an understatement. I have a feeling this is the same guy we saw a couple of month ago and maybe the same fella that scared me half to death in the bathroom last year, haha. I think he just wants to be our friend but just isn't very good at not sneaking up on us.
This is my favorite picture of him, it's as if he is just saying 'Oh Hello' haha!
From the research we have done in the past we believe this guy is a non poisonous Black Ratsnake. He seems to be pretty darn docile. He had no problem with us taking his picture, and he just sat there kind of checking us out too. From what we could tell he looked to be over three feet long!

We weren't able to move him because we had so much construction stuff in the way, so we left the door open for him in the hopes he will find himself out.  In hindsight this morning we probably should have moved everything and helped him outside, because we couldn't find him this morning, but I guess if he still is in the house we shouldn't have anymore problems with mice. I'm sure if we do come across him again, I will be letting you know, haha.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Cor blimey. I freaked out last week when my cat bought home a squirrel and two birds. A snake is in a totally different league! x

  2. Oh nos. I'm deathly afraid of snakes and wouldn't be able to sleep if I thought one was anywhere close to my house!! At least you've got your mouse problem under control :)

  4. Aww he's cute and looks really friendly! Having said that, if I saw one in my house I don't think I'd be there much longer until it's gone! xx

  6. This is bonkers! Snakes totally freak me out.

My ex boyfriend brought one home to be our pet once. It was an orange corn snake. I was REALLY unimpressed. The worst part was, his grandfather went into the hospital two days after he brought it home, so I was charged with the task of feeding it a mouse!!! It was frozen. So I had to thaw it out in warm water and then wiggle it around like it was alive. And then, since we had just got it, I had to watch and make sure it ate it. It was a horrifying experience!!!

AND THEN, the second day the ex was away, the snake got out of its tank and was missing in my house. I, of course, realized this at 12:30 a.m. (it was a Tuesday!) and I ended up calling everyone I knew, until someone came over to pick it up and put it back in its cage, which from that day forward had an enormous rock on top. Oh! I should probably tell you the worst part. I found the little devil hiding between my bed and the wall. Ewwwww!

Anyway, long story just to say, if your little friend appeared in my house I would lose my freaking mind.

    Enjoy him!

    1. That is horrifying! I'm not a fan of snakes either really, I've just learned to except they are up here with us, and there isn't much I can do about it. If it weren't for Will I would have been screaming my head off if I saw him first. Pretty much just like I did when I saw one in the outhouse I was using. I think Will thought I had been shot with all of my screaming haha!

  7. I think I would totally panic if I saw a snake, we don't get many over here and I'm not sure how I would react. It's so cool your first reaction is to take photos! They're fantastic and I'm glad it's not dangerous xo

  13. I love the outdoors, I do. I am a self-proclaimed adore-r of all things outside. Except snakes.

    They terrify me.

Did you not just die!? I SO would have!

  14. Very cool! I wish we had a resident snake...actually we probably do, but they hide so well and I've got 2 acres of trees for them to hide in. I know they're around, I've found snake skins, seen a common tree snake (non venomous), sadly seen dead pythons from people having run them over, and been almost bitten by an eastern brown (2nd deadliest in the world).
    I prefer your snake.

  15. I am scared of snakes! Too many horror stories from the childhood.. But this (scary)little guy looks like he(or she) is having a pretty good time there! Hope he(she) makes it out though to his(her) little family and friends.
    Good luck!

  16. OH wow! We use to have black snakes at the house I grew up in in Tennessee all the time. One time I remember one had somehow gotten into my dad's car and was napping on the dashboard when we got in without seeing him!

  17. I love the outdoors and I'm usually not scared of animals but a SNAKE!? inside my house?! Worst thing I can imagine! I'm glad we don't have snakes in Germany but oh man, that one time I saw a tiny snake close to the beach in Denmark still gives me a heart attack just thinking about it. And it was tiny. Like... not even as long as a cat! I hope he got out of your house - I'd seriously die if I slept in a house with a huge snake. Especially if it could be under your blanket or in your bathroom or...

  18. I like snakes a lot. But then again, I live in an area where there aren't many poisonous ones. I like to find little garden snakes in my garden but not such a fan of finding them in the house. I really like your last photo.

  19. Awesome pictures! He's totally posing. :) I've found snakes in two different houses I lived at before. One was a chicken snake, we let him go, and the other was a king snake (like a rat snake) I shewed him out with the broom. I was bitten by a poisonous snake when I was two. Obviously I made it. Lucky. But I don't mind snakes really. Again ~ Very cool pics

While I'm here... Thanks so much for the comment today. You are my first commenter! Made my day! :)
